Pre-Demolition Asbestos Survey
Pre-Demolition Asbestos Survey in Louisiana.
Federal NESHAP rules require an asbestos survey before demolition of regulated structures. Black Pine inspects, samples, and submits the LDEQ demolition notification on the owner's behalf, based in Monroe and serving statewide Louisiana.
Why It Is Required
NESHAP Comes Before the Demolition.
The asbestos NESHAP requires a thorough inspection for asbestos before demolition of regulated facilities. A written notification must reach the regulating authority before work begins, and in Louisiana that authority is LDEQ.
- 01Any Regulated Demolition. Demolition of a regulated structure triggers the survey and notification, whether or not asbestos is expected.
- 02Permit Conditions. Demolition permits commonly require proof of an asbestos survey before they are issued.
- 03Renovation That Disturbs Materials. Renovations that disturb regulated asbestos-containing material above threshold quantities also fall under NESHAP.
- 04Notification Timing. The notification must be filed ahead of the demolition, so the survey needs to happen early in the schedule.
What the Survey Includes
A certified inspector surveys the structure, samples suspect materials, and submits them to an accredited laboratory. You receive a written report classifying what was found and where.
Black Pine prepares the LDEQ demolition notification and submits it on the owner's behalf, so the regulatory step is handled alongside the survey.
