AHERA School Compliance
AHERA Asbestos Compliance for Louisiana Schools.
AHERA requires schools to inspect for asbestos, maintain a management plan, and keep both current. Black Pine provides certified inspections and management plan support, based in Monroe and serving statewide Louisiana.
What AHERA Requires
The Obligations AHERA Places on Schools.
The Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act applies to local education agencies, which include public school districts and nonprofit private schools. The core requirements are ongoing.
- 01Initial Inspection. Each school building is inspected for asbestos-containing materials by an accredited inspector, with suspect materials sampled or assumed.
- 02Management Plan. A written asbestos management plan is developed, kept on site, and made available for review.
- 03Periodic Surveillance. The condition of known and assumed asbestos materials is checked every six months.
- 04Re-Inspection. A full re-inspection by an accredited inspector is required every three years.
- 05Designated Person and Notice. A trained designated person oversees compliance, and staff and parents receive annual notification.
How Black Pine Supports Compliance
Black Pine performs AHERA inspections and re-inspections, prepares and updates management plans, and documents periodic surveillance so your records stay current and defensible.
Because Black Pine is inspection-only and does not perform abatement, the findings stay independent of any removal work.
